About my practice
BSc Honours Clinical Speech and Language Studies, Trinity College Dublin 1999

I work with a limited number of private patients in order to ensure that I provide a quality service that is client-focused and directed.  I am available for home visits and like  to work inclusively with parents so that they are empowered to help their children develop and achieve their potential.  I have worked in both hospital and community settings, although my main experience was within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.  As a result, I understand and have provided assessments and intervention to children with attention and concentration difficulties, emotional behavioural difficulties, selective mutism, mood disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.  In addition, I have an interest in social communication difficulties and have designed and faciliated many group sessions with young children and adolescents.

I strive to deliver the intervention that is in line with current best practice and regularly carry out activities of continuous professional development.  To date I have trained in many courses including the Hanen 'It Takes Two to Talk' programme, the Michael Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Stammering, the Parents Plus Early Years, Middle Years and Adolescent Programmes and the ADOS assessment.  I have also undergone training with Maggie Johnson in the area of Selective Mutism.

More recently, I have been involved in multi-disciplinary Assessments of Need of younger children aged 1 and upwards and as a result have gained considerable expertise in the area of early assessment and intervention. I am particularly passionate about early intervention, the power of play, positive reinforcement and early language stimulation/facilitation.

I have worked within a specialist team, assessing cleft palate and velo-pharyngeal insufficiency.  As a result I have developed a special interest in this area and continue to provide therapy to children with speech errors arising from cleft palate and velopharyngeal insufficiency.

I am available on Saturdays and can carry out home visits.
