I graduated with a BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff in 2002.I have worked in the UK, Barbados and Ireland in the NHS, HSE, St John of God services and in private practice. I have extensive experience working with both children and teenagers.
I currently work with the following client groups:
Children: Delayed speech and language development, speech sound difficulties, stammering/stuttering, cleft lip/palate and dyslexia/literacy difficulties.
Teens & Adults: Stammering/stuttering and dyslexia/literacy difficulties.
I am dedicated to ongoing learning so that my clinical knowledge and therapy approaches are evidence-based. I have completed postgraduate training in a variety of areas including: Hanen It Takes Two To Talk, Caroline Bowen's Clear Speech, Michael Palin Centre Approach to Stammering Intervention, Solution Focused Brief Therapy for Children and Adolescents, DIR Floortime, Dynamic Temporal Tactile Cueing for Suspected/Diagnosed Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Alex Kelly Social Skills and the Dyslexia Association Ireland 2-day Teacher/Tutor course.
I have volunteered as an adult literacy tutor with Longford VEC and have a keen interest in literacy, reading and story-time. I run story-time sessions with toddlers, pre-school and school-age children in local libraries with a view to encouraging reading and literacy development.
I work from my home and offer a child-friendly and homely environment. I currently have availability on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. After-school and evening appointments are also available.
