About my practice

Since graduating from the University of Manchester in 1999 I have worked as a Speech & Language Therapist in health services both in the UK and Ireland. I have almost 20 years experience of working with children and adults with intellectual disabilities and complex communication needs, as well as children with autistic spectrum disorders, speech and language delay / disorders and stammering difficulties. I specialise in the area of high-tech AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) for people with complex communication needs and I am able to provide assessment, intervention and training in this area. During my time working in disability services in the UK and Ireland, I have gathered a significant amount of experience working with both children and adults using high-tech communication devices including eye gaze technology. I have also completed postgraduate training in AAC assessment and intervention in the UK. I am hugely passionate about the difference technology can make to the lives of individuals with complex disabilities and I have seen many times the improvements to someone’s quality of life when technology allows them to communicate with their family and friends ““ the smile on someone’s face when they tell a joke for the very first time or tell their mum they love them is what keeps me doing this job! During my years working in the NHS and in disability services in Ireland I have regularly worked with multi-disciplinary teams and with schools and I strongly believe that any therapy input should be provided as part of a team working together with the person’s family, school / care service and other professionals in order to deliver the best possible outcomes for the person. I provide assessment and therapy in the home and I am also happy to provide service into schools and disability day/residential services as required.

I am based between Cork and Dublin and am able to travel to most areas in the Munster and Leinster regions.

I am currently registered with CORU, the regulatory body for healthcare professionals working in Ireland and am a current member of the Irish Association of Speech & Language Therapists (IASLT) and Independent Speech-Language Therapists of Ireland (ISTI). PLEASE NOTE: I do not work with voice difficulties or adult neurological rehabilitation.
