About my practice
Speech and Language Support with a Difference
Dia dhuit! Kia Ora! Hello! Is mise Niamh. I am a paediatric, senior Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for inclusion, anti-ableism, and neuro-affirmative practice.
I am a fully qualified, Senior Speech and Language Therapist and a registered member of CORU, the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) and Independent Speech-Language Therapists Ireland (ISTI).
I lecture on the MSc Speech and Language Therapy programme at the University of Limerick, in the areas of paediatric speech, language and communication needs and disability.
What makes my services a little bit different and refreshing?
* I am a strengths-based therapist. I look at what your child CAN do, to find meaningful ways to grow your child’s skills.
* I travel to you and your child. I believe in working in a child’s real-life, everyday environment. I offer therapy in your own home or your child’s educational setting.
* I appreciate that children thrive when the adults around them understand how to promote their communication. I work closely with parents, teachers, and other people around a child.
* I understand inclusion. I bring valuable, diverse experience from the inclusive education system in New Zealand, where I delivered services to children, teachers, and whole school teams.
* I facilitate bespoke workshops and training. I provide training and coaching for parents, teachers, SETs, preschools, and whole school teams.
* I support families from the earliest possible stages. For example, expectant parents who are aware their baby may present with communication or developmental differences, or parents who simply wish to proactively learn about their new baby’s communication.
